For most people, it's the best reason to keep their job.
The best employee retention program a company can offer is purpose. Longevity incentives can always be outbid or bought out; professional training programs are only as good as the employees' willingness to put them to use. But give each employee a true sense of purpose--not just through a nicely crafted vision/mission statement but in actual day-to-day practice--and you will be more likely to get them on board for the long haul.
