No Absolutes

Don't look now, but it's been almost two years since I last touched this blog.

I've always been a stern believer in thinking before speaking (or posting anything online, for that matter). For one who fancies himself a writer at heart, my pieces are decidedly few and far between. My stand has always been that just because something inspires me to write, doesn't mean that the whole damn world will be interested in what eventually comes out of my pen (or keyboard)--which, in turn, makes it pointless to even start writing.  It's somewhat of a vicious cycle--one that made me wake up one day and realize that I hadn't posted anything here in almost two years.

Incidentally, since my last post, I have since realized that being a magazine editor wasn't as gratifying for a writer as I had thought. And so, I went back to marketing, and soon after found myself accepting an offer to go into Sales. Ironically I had sworn, my entire professional life, that I would never go into Sales; I just didn't have the personality for it.  But as life's little surprises go, 8 months into the job and I seem to be enjoying it despite the unimaginable stress.

At the end of the day, the one thing that my two-year hiatus from this blog has revealed to me is that there are no absolutes in life.  No matter how strongly we feel compelled to uphold our principles and beliefs, there will always be times when we need to cut ourselves some slack, lest we get left behind in the ever-increasing pace of change in today's world.  Because the truth of the matter is I don't really feel I have any post-worthy ideas in this post; I simply realized that this blog has been inactive for way too long.

So there you go--inactive streak broken.  Special thanks to a wicked monsoon that paralyzed my city for two days, giving me the time to tinker with all things Internet-related.
